This Mother’s Day session with Chelsi Jo’s crew at The Garden at Tonaquint in St. George, Utah felt like such a joyful way to kick off May. Thirteen family members came together, spanning grandparents, their three grown kids, and all the grandkids, which gave us that wonderful “everyone’s finally in one place” energy that makes big family portraits so special.
The garden was in full, leafy spring color, which gave us soft green backdrops and pockets of shade to keep everyone comfortable. We loved how the family’s neutral and green outfits blended so nicely with the lawns and trees, while still letting each person’s personality shine. We started with the full group to make sure that all-important wall art shot was covered, then moved into smaller combinations like grandparents with grandkids and each immediate family.
Afternoon light filtered through the trees and palms, creating a warm glow without being too harsh. It kept the mood relaxed and gave the kids space to have fun between frames, which always helps bring out genuine expressions. For a family that had never done professional photos together before, they settled into the session so naturally. It was a beautiful way to celebrate Mother’s Day and capture this season of life in one of our favorite green spaces in St. George.
