Laurie brought her family together at Red Hills Desert Garden in St. George, Utah, and it could not have been a better setting for a reunion session. With nearly two dozen relatives spanning several generations, we had the perfect mix of personalities, laughter, and that easy comfort that comes when everyone is finally in the same place again.
We scheduled the session for the soft evening light, which slipped beautifully across the red rock walls and winding paths of the garden. The sandstone contrasted so nicely with the blues, greens, and neutrals they chose for their outfits, giving the full group portraits a cohesive, relaxed feel. The bridge over the water was a favorite spot, creating a natural stage for the whole crew to line up together against the soft summer sky.
Between large group shots, we worked through each branch of the family, plus grandparents and couples, so everyone had something meaningful to take home from the day. The garden’s shaded corners and open views gave us plenty of variety without needing to walk far, which helped keep the pace easy with little ones and grandparents in the mix.
Red Hills Desert Garden isn't one of our go to locations generally for big family sessions in the St. George metro area, but it worked out fantastically for this reunion with Laurie’s family! It was a wonderful reminder of why we love photographing here in St. George.
