This summer session with Kelsi’s crew at Pioneer Park in St. George, Utah was such a fun way to kick off July. Having twenty‑one family members together in one place is no small feat, and Pioneer Park’s wide open red rock landscapes gave us all the room we needed to spread out, regroup, and keep things relaxed.
We met in the evening when the light started to drop behind the rocks. The sandstone glowed warm and soft, which worked beautifully with the denim, boots, and textured dresses the family chose. It felt very "Southern Utah" in the best possible way, and it fit their mix of casual and more posed images perfectly.
With a group this size, our focus stayed on making the big portraits feel organized but not stiff, then building in time for grandparents, siblings, and smaller family groupings. The natural curves and alcoves of the park helped us tuck everyone into flattering light without straying far, which was ideal for such a multi‑generational group.
One of my favorite parts of the session was seeing how everyone leaned into the experience of getting updated photos together after several years. Pioneer Park gave us that classic red rock backdrop and an easygoing atmosphere that matched the family’s vibe, and it all came together into a set of portraits that really reflected their time together on this St. George trip.
