Kirkland Fields
Where open skies meet peaceful meadows
Kirkland Fields is one of our favorite spots to shoot. There’s something about it that makes everyone relax and breathe a little easier, and we love how the large, mature trees create beautiful natural shade and a dreamy golden glow right before sunset.
You'll find open fields for playful shots, cozy tree-covered areas for intimate moments, and mountain views in the distance if you want something more dramatic. The ground is mostly flat and easy to navigate, which grandparents and anyone pushing a stroller tend to really appreciate. Just a heads up though: after a good rain, the grass can get a bit soggy, so maybe skip the fancy shoes if it's been wet.
One special thing about Kirkland Fields is that it's actually private property, generously shared with photographers to use. The spot can get popular on spring and fall weekends around sunset, but in the mornings and on quiet weekday evenings, there's a good chance you'll have the whole place to yourself.

Good to Know
When to Go
Kirkland Fields looks beautiful in both early morning light and during the evening golden hour. For evening sessions, aim for around 7-8pm in spring and early summer, or 4-6pm in late fall and early winter. Morning sessions within an hour or two of sunrise offer equally gorgeous light. Either way, when the sun is low and filters through those mature trees, the whole place glows.
Through the Seasons
Spring brings vibrant green grass and occasional wildflowers, though it's also the busiest season—expect to share the space on weekends. Summer can get warm, but the tree cover provides plenty of shade for evening sessions.
Fall is a favorite among our photographers. The trees turn rich amber, the temperature is comfortable, and the light is stunning. Weekends fill up quickly during this season. Winter offers a quieter, more minimalist aesthetic with bare trees and fewer crowds—bundle up, and you might get some beautifully moody images.
Getting There & Parking
Street parking is available right next to the field. If those spots are full, there's additional parking in the Sullivan Soccer Park lot to the east—just use caution crossing the road, as it's a busy intersection. Once you're parked, it's a short walk to the main field area. The field itself is flat and easy to navigate, perfect for strollers or anyone who prefers not to hike to their photo spot. Just note that the gate entering the field is a bit narrow and won't accommodate wheelchairs.
Who This Location Suits Best
Kirkland Fields works beautifully for a wide range of sessions. If you have active toddlers who need room to move or dogs who love open space, this is your spot. Large families appreciate the variety of backdrops here as well, and there are no long treks required between group shots. The natural, uncluttered backgrounds also make it a favorite for corporate headshots—professional without feeling stiff. And if you're drawn to soft, natural settings rather than dramatic desert landscapes, you'll feel right at home here. It's a place where everyone can relax and be themselves.

Is This Your Spot?
If Kirkland Fields sounds like the right setting for your session, we'd love to photograph you here. Our photographers know this location well—where the light is best, how to work around wind, and how to capture kids who'd rather explore than pose.
If you're not quite sure, that's completely fine. We work at several locations around St. George, each with its own character. Some offer dramatic red rock backdrops like Pioneer Park, while others provide more intimate settings like the Desert Garden. The best location is simply the one that feels right for you and your family!
