There’s something really special about photographing a team that’s this excited to be together. Meeting Kitacia and her cheer squad at Tonaquint Nature Center for a late afternoon session was the perfect way to kick off spring. The trees were just starting to green up, and the path through the park gave us a beautiful natural tunnel of light that worked so well with their bold black uniforms and bright pink pom poms.
We started with strong, classic team photos to showcase everyone together, then mixed in smaller groupings, stunts, and individual portraits so each cheerleader could have her own moment. The 5:00 PM start time gave us that soft, even light that flatters skin tones and lets colors really pop without anyone squinting.
I loved how this location offered a balance of clean, simple backgrounds and a bit of woodland magic. It kept the focus on the athletes while still feeling warm, playful, and a little bit dramatic—perfect for a cheer team wanting the full experience of professional photos.
Sessions like this are such a fun way to celebrate a season of hard work, build team pride, and create images that work for everything from prints and gifts to social media and posters. I’m already looking forward to seeing where this team goes next.
