Kirkland Fields is one of my favorite places to shoot in the St. George area, and Lauralee’s 5:30 PM portrait session was a perfect reminder of why I love it so much. The open fields off Washington Fields Road catch the evening light in the most beautiful way—soft, golden, and gently wrapping around every frame.
We timed this session to land right in that early spring glow, when the air in Washington, Utah still feels fresh and the greens are just starting to deepen. The wide, unobstructed horizon at Kirkland Fields let us play with clean, minimalist backgrounds while still keeping a sense of the desert landscape around us.
As the sun dropped, the light shifted from bright and cheerful to warm and dimensional, ideal for outdoor portraits with a natural, relaxed feel. We moved just enough to follow the light, letting it skim across Lauralee’s features and create that subtle separation from the background that makes portraits feel polished but still true to life.
I love sessions like this—simple, unhurried, and focused on letting one person really shine in a beautiful Southern Utah setting. If you’re drawn to open skies, soft sunset tones, and a clean, modern look, Kirkland Fields is a fantastic choice for outdoor portraits.
